Back and Forth

They say that IVF is like a roller coaster ride and they sure are right. We have had some complications along the way because they have over stimulated me and now I am at an increased risk for OHSS. Therefore they have had to decrease my medicine a vouple of tomes and I have had to come back daily. For the last 3 days I was driving back and forth so that I could at least make it into work for 1/2 of a day but it just was to much. So last night the whole family made the trip up and we will be here for at least the whole weekend. I am so happy because I missed them soo much!

This picture is taken from the new clinic. It is beautiful with an outstanding view. The paint is not even dry yet!

Back on Track

Yesterday Shayne and I drove up to Calgary for my next appointment this morning. We stayed in the usual hotel Sandman West Calgary because they give such a great deal for patients. It is a decent hotel and the location is great for us.
The fertility clinic is in transition in changing their location and today was the first day that they were in their new clinic. It was so nice! What made it even better is that we got some positive news. It appears that everything is getting back on track. There are about 10 follicles in each ovary with the biggest being 1.1 mm. We have continued with the same dosage of medicine, however the nurse did also remind me that I am at a higher risk for OHSS. For now I will take whatever good news I can get.

After the appointment we spent a little time in beautiful Canmore. I got a nice relaxing massage which was very much needed! Then we had a great lunch on the patio. The air in Canmore is soo refreshing and rejuvenating. I feel as though the clouds have parted just a little and the sun is starting to shine in again.

Thanks so much Darlene for watching Elyssa. We really appreciate it! Also a special thanks to Shayne for such a good little trip and for all of the support over the last little while, I couldn't have done it without you!

A Day Trip

On Sept 26 I had to go to the Royal Alex for bloodwork at 8 am. I called the clinic at about 2:30 to find out the results and they said that my estrogen levels were to high and that I needed to come in to Calgary the next morning. So Thursday morning off I went. They did an ultrasound and found 4-5 eggs in one ovary and 15 in the other! I guess that I am at risk for OHSS so I am going to need to decrease my medicine and go back on Sat to see if my levels have went down. It's kind scary!

On the way home a saw the Bow building. I thought that I would post it for Shayne to see as this is one of his biggest interests in Calgary.

Progress

My good friend borrowed me this fertility elephant last time that I got pregnant with Elyssa and she borrowed it to me last week again. I don't know why this elephant brings me comfort because I am not a superstitious person but I was soo glad when she offered it to me again.

Yesterday I went to Calgary to see how my body was taking to the medicine. I got up at 4 am, drove to Calgary and got some pretty good news. Everything is going as planned and I am officially in menopause again! This is the third time that I have been in menopause and I am not even 35! Anyway, they said that everything is going as planned and I can start the next medicine today. Now I am on 3 injections per day and three different pills. I am a walking pharmacy! I am starting to feel the effects but know that this is wayyyy worth it!

Family Fun

Today we went out to Grandpa and Gandma Marg's house for a BBQ. We had so much fun and really enjoyed spending time with the family.

Some of the memories that I will cherish is awesome company, great food, beautiful atmoshpere and me making an idiot over myself runing from the bees and ultimately falling! But the most important memory that I will have is that as soon as we got into the car Elyssa said " I had fun with my family". We have no idea how she knew that we were at a family function nor who her family even is as we never mentioned it to her. If must have just felt right to her!

Round 2 begins!

On Wednesday September 5, 2012 I received my medication to begin IVF treatment. I was soo nervous about the medicine and began to go into panic mode when purolator told me that they did not have a refrigerator. As some of this medicine is required to be in the fridge I started making 15 different phone calls thinking that it was garbage. Since not all of the medicine was covered this time I thought that we might have wasted our money. Finally a nurse from the fertility clinic called and said that the ice packs were good for up to three days! I felt a whole lot better after that and a little silly!

And the Gender Is.....

Today we went for our 2nd trimester ultrasound. Because I am 1 day short of 5 months, we are able to see the gender. I have been so excited for today and just want to make sure that everything is still ok. I think that I might have been able to feel it kick once, but to tell you the truth I am not really sure. I had to drink 1 1/2 liters of water 1 1/2 hours before the appointment. I could only get down 1 litre and thank goodness for that ! By the time the appointment came, I REALLY had to go and I was not sure if I was going to make it! Shayne met me there but had to wait in the waiting room for the ultrasound person to do some tests. She told me that " this baby sure moves alot", so I was immediately relieved. Then I was allowed to empty my bladder and Shayne was called in for the results and to see the baby on the ultrasound machine. Well I will tell you that it is one of the most amazing and beautiful things that I have ever seen. It still brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it! The baby is 16 cm long, 11 ounces and a perfect little baby girl! We are so excited and can't wait for a few more months till we can see her!
