Why is my Bed in the Storage Room?

A Girly Girl

What Do I Want for my Birthday?
Shayne and I are both really hard to buy for and WE don't even usually know what to buy each other. However, when I got my bonsai ( see earlier post) from Shayne, I did alot of research on how to care for it. I found out that there was all sorts of cultish people that grow these things and that some people take this very seriously. I discovered that they recommended to purchase special bonsai scissors to trim it. I really did not think that it was necessary as they are really expensive, so I trimmed the leaves and branches with snips. Well, my bonsai never really fully recovered and you could see months later where I had trimmed. I always wanted to get one pair of scissors so that I could do a proper job. Then......guess what I got for my birthday from Shayne...... a whole set! I was so excited to get trimming that I started that night and it looks much better now.Just Beautiful

My Birthday April 17th
When my Mom asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday diner, I said that all I want is a roast beef , mashed potatoes and gravy. My Moms roast has always been one of my favorites, so this is what I got! I am a HUGE gravy lover and of course my plate was so full of gravy that you could hardly see the roast! Yummy!Saturday, April 18, 2009
Ales Hamster
During Shayne's birthday game on April 4, we happen to sit next to a crazier Oilers fan ( if there is such a thing) than Shayne. This lady had the most adorable dancing hampster that I have ever seen. When you squeeze his foot he dances and sings the hockey song. As I asked questions I learned just how compulsive this lady really was. As you can see, this hampster sits on her lap during games and the button on his foot can ONLY be pressed after the Oilers score. There was other superstitions as well that were included in the hampster box. One time as she was walking with her Oilers bag, the Oilers scored and a stick dropped in the bag. As a result, the stick needed to be in the box with Ales Hamster. There was other memorbila as well. I asked her where she got this Hampster as I thought that it would make a great addition to the Oilers room. She said that you could probably not get one anymore and offered to send us one because she had 4. We gave her some money in good faith and just hoped that she would. Then....this week.......
Ales Hamster came in along with some photos of her collection AND a list of rules. Here is what the attached note said word for word:
Hi Guys,
I hope Ales Hamster II gives you as much fun as I have had. There are rules however that must be strictly followed.
1) During the game the toe can only be pressed when EDM. scores
2) No one can ever press the toe when there is not a game on. NOT even in the off season.
3) When there is a game on, only the designated toe presser can touch the hamster and whatever other "Mojo" you place near the Hamster. I myself have all the stuff you saw with my hamster + I also have a 2" Oiler player holding up a Stanley Cup. His name is of course "Stanley".
If, God forbid, someone does do the unthinkable + press or touch the Hamster, you must
a) live with it + die just a little inside
b) have a full blown kanipshen fit
c) counter act somehow ( the choice is yours)
d) kill the scumbag that did it
e) all of the above
Have fun + maybe we'll meet again at another game.
GO OILERS!
We plan to try and uphold the rules and hope that this will help bring the Oilers to the playoffs next year!

Easter Egg Hunt
Every Easter we put on a Easter egg hunt for the kids. In the past I actually made the eggs with the kits, but it never worked out right. The dye just never dried properly and last year I even had to wrap them in plastic wrap so that we could hide them. This year I just decided to do fake ones so that I did not have to worry about dye on my carpet!Neda the Egg Peeler
It is not a big secret that I am not a chef, but compared to my best friend Neda, I am Chef Ramsay! She literally peels one potatoe to my 5! During preparation for Easter diner I thought that I had the perfect job for her. Peeling hard boiled eggs for devilled eggs. I have NEVER seen ANYONE peel an egg that slow! It was soooo funny! I actually helped because it was taking to long! But I love her anyway!Crazy Long Winter
Butterscotch Pie
I have now mastered my apple pie and now I have a new challenge. In my family the tradition for every holiday is that my Dad makes pies using my Grandma Gagne's recipes. My Dad and I are the only ones who eat this butterscotch pie, but it just would not be a holiday without it. I guess that it reminds me of my Grandma who I miss dearly.Last year I tried to make it for the first time and it turned out like soup. This year it was alot better. The taste was spot on, but it was still a little on the soft side. My Dad has advised me on my mistake and I hope that it is even better next year.
Easter Daffodils
I was really surprised how the stores keep these flowers. They do not keep them in water because once you put them in water they bloom. I thought that this was kind of odd and I was not sure if the lady at Save on Foods was pulling my leg just sell them, but I thought that I would try anyway just for curiosity. They really were not that expensive, so why not? Sure enough, by the time Easter dinner rolled around, they were open!
Time for a Bath
The Perfect Antenna
I was at Wal-mart one day and as I was walking out something caught my attention and I had to to get closer to look. It was confirmed......this old beat up car was using a rusty coat hanger for a radio antenna! I could not believe my eyes! I have had rusty old crappy vehicles, but this is where I would draw the line.
