Beautiful Anniversary Flowers

These are the gorgeous flowers that Shayne gave me for our Anniversary. I always appreciate receiving flowers, thanks Shayne!

No Glasses for Us!!

This is our first picture together without glasses. For our 7th Anniversary dinner we decided to go to Jubilations. It just so happened to be that "Sexy Gals in the City" was the play during our Anniversary. It was very good, but I have seen some better ones. The company that I had was much better than the play! Happy Anniversary Monsieur Shayne, Love you!

A Great Day

On May 23 Shayne and I babysat my Sisters youngest kids, Izabella and Lukas. We had a great plan to tire them out. We started off as Ikea where there is a play center that they love. Then we took them to McDonald's for ice cream and more playing in one of the best McDonald's parks. Then we went home to watch Monsters Vs. Aliens on the big projector and have some popcorn. The kids LOVE watching anything on the projector. Then we were on our way to meet my Sister in the West End. On the way home they obviously were very tired and I have to say that they were extremely well behaved the entire time that we watched them.

Austin's Confirmation

On Tuesday April 19 Austin had his Confirmation. The Archbishop is present and it is a very big day for Catholics. I was truly honored to be a part of Austin's big day and to be his sponsor. Congrats Austin!!

No Glasses and Make Up

On Tuesday April 19 I was allowed to wear makeup. This was forbidden for 7 days after my laser surgery. The first day of the week I was so excited that I took a picture of myself!

The Rising Engine

For Mothers Day my Dad put some sort of special exhaust system in my Mom's mustang. Well, my sister could not resist and sort of tricked my Mom into taking it to Cochin. Anige then picked Shayne and I up from the beach and we went for a cruise. I got to drive on the way home and I tell you, I want this car. I am the biggest chicken but I decided to go for it. I floored this mustang and the engine just lifted right up. It was very exhilerating and man this car has power! The first thing I said was, " Shayne that was so fun, we need one of these"!!

The Set Up

This is us sitting around the fire having a few adult beverages. Tucker of course is a freak about his bed so we had to bring it in front of the fire so that he could relax too. The trailer behind us is my Mom and Dads.

This is the trailer that Shayne and I sleep in. My Mom inherited it from my Papa who passed away just over a year ago. Papa loved camping and I am sure that he is very happy that his trailer is being enjoyed.

This trailer has one bedroom in the back and I have to say that it is one of the most comfortable beds that I have ever slept in ( aside from my bed at home). We feel completely relaxed and happy when we stay in this trailer.

My sister Angie's trailer is in between Papa's and my Parents trailer. My Mom says that it is a great set up because if she gets tired of us she can just kick us out into our "own homes"!

Cochin Hill

This is Cochin Hill. When my Dad was a kid he used to come to Cochin to visit his Grandma and Grandpa and to go to Jack Fish Lake. They were a very poor family so this was a very big treat to them. Back then there was no stairs and the kids would climb it 3-4 times a day.
Every time I go to North Battleford I have to climb this hill. This year I thought that it would be easier because I have quit smoking for over a year. NOT! My lungs were just as tired. Maybe a little less wheezing, but that is about it.

Just behind that house across the street is where my Great Grandma and Great Grandpa used to live. My Great Uncle Ken took my Dad to see the foundation last year but I guess that you have to be really careful of cellars.
This is the light house at the top of Cochin Hill. I keep saying that I want to come at night to see it lit up, but we never make it.

The Spoiled Dog Tucker

My sister did not have her kids this weekend so Tucker got spoiled. He ate like a king, whatever he wanted. He had steak, hot dogs, smokies and I am sure alot of other food that Shayne and I did not see. I think one day he had some dog food, but that is about it. All of us played non stop with him and we eventually tired him out! YES WE TIRED TUCKER OUT! He was the center of attention all weekend long.

The Old Jackfish Store

Even though all of the town buildings remain, they are all abandoned except for the post office across the street from this store. My Dad told us that the Gagne homestead was just a little down the road from this store. I wish that I had known at the time because I would have taken a picture of the property even though the house is not there anymore.

The Ferry

On the way to Jack Fish Lake you can either go through North Battleford or take the ferry across the river. Shayne and I always take the ferry because views are outstanding. It always reminds me of something from Dances With Wolves. To my surprise the countryside in Sask. is full of hills and valleys. I took this picture right before got onto the ferry.

Odd Clouds

For the long weekend we went to Jack Fish Lake just outside of North Battleford. The view without glasses is unbelievably clear and crisp. This cloud seemed to follow us the entire way there. It was HUGE.

Bug Eyes

This is a horrible picture of me and it looks at lot worse than it was! After the ( and even during) surgery, I had NO pain and no problems at all. My eyes were a little tingley and they sort of felt like there was an eyelash in the corner. They advised that you go home and sleep for a few hours, but I am not much of a sleeper. I just talked on the phone and listened to the tv with my eyes closed. Then they recommend that you wear night guards so that you do not scratch your eyes in the middle of the night. I actually did not notice them at all throughout the night.

The next day after the surgery, I went for my follow up appointment. We were there about 15 minutes and I went through the typical chart exams. I now have 20/20 vision without my glasses. I have never been so excited and happy with my eyes. I cannot even believe the freedom that I have already experience. We went shopping for regular sunglasses today and then went to see Star Trek. Even movies look better! It is absolutely amazing and I am SOOO happy that I have done this.

I do have to thank Shayne for taking care of me, I appreciated it!

After

This is the dark area where you go after your surgery. I was SOOO relieved just to have it done. The procedure was completely painless and quick. I cannot believe that I was even worried at all about it! I stayed here before they examined me one last time before home time.

Petrified

I was so nervous before the surgery. They gave me adivan, but at this point it really didn't help much. I was so thankful that Shayne was there to take my mind off of everything even if it was only for a little while! At this point, I just wanted it to be over.

This is the last stop before the surgery room and you could actually hear the laser working. Believe it or not, that actually helped so that I knew what sort of noises to expect.

Last Day With Glasses

This is a terrible upclose picture of me, but Shayne insissted that it needs to be this close. I am having eye laser surgery tomorrow and if everything goes accordingly this should be the last that you will see of me with glasses. I was not allowed to wear makeup to work today and I cannot wear any for the next week. Everyone came up to me today and either said that I was dangerous with a bowling ball or asked if I was ok because my eyes looked puffy! Wish me luck!

Beautiful Thank You Note

I received this beauiful thank you note in the mail today. We went to Nicholas' baby shower on April 26 and it was fantastic. I have been friends with Marzena since I was 13 years old and I am so happy that her and Dave have been blessed with Nicholas. I probably could not even count how many hands held this baby that day and he hardly fussed at all! What a good baby! This thank you note is one that really touched my heart, thanks Marzena!

It Must Be Friday

When I got home from work, Shayne and I did the usual Friday mojo and started talking about our day. Then he said something really odd to me. He said that he was confused as to what leather jacket was mine and which was his. I proceeded to open the closet and explain to him whose was whose. Then he said to me, don't you see anything different here? I couldn't believe it, there was some flowers there for me and I did not even notice it! It must have been a long week for me not to notice flowers! These flowers can go outside so I think I will put them out this weekend. Thanks Shayne, it is a great feeling to know that I am appreciated!

OMG, I Didn't Just Do That.......

On Thursday May 7th my work had a "working session" at Gateway Bowling with pizza and pop. The Auto Tech guys joined us as well as my bosses boss. I spent alot of time telling everyone how bad I was at bowling so that noone would be shocked when they saw a 60 score. My manager Lynn decided who was going to be on what team and entered all of our names in the system. My team included myself, our team lead Sherry and our intern Trevor. The team next to me was my Manager, and 2 Auto Tech guys. So it came time to start bowling and I was really nervous because I really don't know these people all that well. My manager and I were the first to bowl so she asked me to bowl first. So I stood there and concentrated really hard and thought to myself, please don't make a fool of yourself. So I posed and then threw the ball..........the ball.....bounced off the center part and then into Lynns lane!! How embarrassing...I threw the ball into the wrong lane! I did let her throw one in my lane. I was sooo embarrassed, but it did give everyone a laugh and it broke the ice a little! Then I ended up looking like a liar because I got 4 strikes and 1 spare in that game. It was a really fun time and great to see everyone enjoying themselves.

Wii Fit

On Wednesday May 6 I went to Spruce Grove for my Nephew Austins Confirmation rehersal. We had a great supper that Angie made which was turkey hash, gravy, buns and fruit salad for desert. Austin and I met his Uncle Marek at the church and we learned what was expected of us during the ceremony. Things have changed alot since my confirmation, but it is going to be very nice. Then after the rehearsal I hooked the Wii upstairs so that the whole family could play. They had Wii fit and I'll tell you that we all had a great time. That game is so neat and I found out that my "Wii age" is 34. I think that I should practice a little more, I don't need any more years added!

Not Good!

On Saturday May 2 we decided to try Papa Murphy's pizza. Shayne ended up getting a free pizza because he said "that he forgot his coupon at home". So the guy convinced him to buy this club salad. The pizza was really good, but not as good as Royal Pizza. That night we had a few bites of the salad, but we decided to save it for the next day. So on Sunday for lunch I ate most of it and then....
I saw this........OMG how many bugs did I actually eat?

The Not Fun Part of Spring

This stain that we use wears off really quickly and every year we have to restain. I hate painting, but the sooner I paint, the sooner I can bring out the patio furniture. So painting was my goal today. Its interesting because I love putting all the summer stuff out, but we hardly use it! The only time we use it is when we have fires.

Time for a Little Change

Now that spring is here, I wanted to change my hair a little. Nothing to dramatic, but just some foils and a cut. I forgot the camera at home, so Shayne used his phone camera. I am really happy with the result and I even Shayne said that it made me look younger!

Fairmount Marchuk House

Last year when we went to the mountains we stayed at the Fairmont Lake Louise. It was so luxurious and the bedding was out of this world. The sheets were Egyptian Cotton and the duvet was just amazing. We thought that it would be great to sleep like that every night. So we started with the Egyptian Cotton sheets which are awesome. Then Darlene bought us a perfect duvet for our birthday. We also got some money from Michelle and Derek to buy the Duvet set. It took awhile for us to find "the perfect" duvet set, but once we did...... OH MY GOSH IS THIS BED EVER THE MOST COMFORTABLE BED I HAVE EVER SLEPT IN! It was exactly like the fairmont! Then we put that pillow spray from Bath and Body works and it is like a little piece of heaven! So thank you Darlene, Derek and Michelle for giving us the gift amazing sleeps.
